Louis George - Painted Mirror Image Name Tie

This skinny navy blue necktie is a perfect example of a mid century mirror image tie. When you look at it straight on, it looks like an embellished design, but a closer look sideways reveals a person's name! This technique of street artists creating unique name neckwear for customers started in the 1940's. Similar ties bearing the word 'Bullshit' is still made today. This 1950's vintage polyester necktie is was hand painted by Walter Drake, who signed the back flap, and it is in great shape.
